La Marine nationale intercepte 616 candidats à la migration irrégulière : un nouveau coup dur pour la migration clandestine
La Marine nationale du Sénégal a réussi une opération d’ampleur dans la nuit du 22 au 23 octobre 2023, interceptant quatre pirogues transportant 616 candidats à la migration irrégulière, selon les informations recueillies par Walf-groupe.com. Ces tentatives de migration ont été stoppées aux premières heures de la matinée, marquant un nouveau coup dur pour les réseaux de passeurs.
Les migrants interceptés sont composés de 507 adultes, 54 filles, 44 mineurs et 11 nourrissons. Parmi eux, 401 sont Sénégalais, 183 Gambiens, onze Guinéens, quatre Bissau Guinéens et trois Ghanéens. L’origine diverse de ces candidats à la migration illustre l’ampleur du phénomène migratoire en Afrique de l’Ouest.
Questionnés pour les besoins de leur identification, les migrants ont révélé que deux pirogues avaient pris départ à Cayar, et les deux autres à Joal (Bassoul) et en Gambie. Après leur interception au large de la Mauritanie, ils ont été conduits à la Marine nationale avant d’être remis à la Division nationale de lutte contre le trafic des migrants et des pratiques assimilées. Cette opération soulève une fois de plus la question de la lutte contre la migration clandestine en Afrique de l’Ouest.
